John Lean
John Lean is an established artist producing exceptionally beautiful paintings bursting with colour, from his studio in rural Waterloo, in the mid north of South Australia.
John’s work is heavily influenced by Impressionism, particularly the works of Claude Monet, and he continues to push the barriers of his art practice and experiment with different concepts and styles. Whether depicting urban environments or the natural world, John’s work is rendered with loose, expressive brushwork and a focus on the effects of light and colour.
To capture atmospheric landscapes, John employs spontaneity and motion to create his lush brushwork with emphasis placed on the changing light and illumination on the landscape.
Like most artists, John is driven to paint what he feels about what he sees in the world around him, and his paintings invite you to take a small part of that world home with you.
